BELIZE ADVENTURE
Featuring: Miami, Lamanai, Mountain Pine Ridge, Guatemala, Tikal, Pooks Hill, Actun Tunichil Muknal, Placencia, Belize City
This itinerary is designed for those of an adventurous spirit and an Indiana Jones persuasion, combining trips into the rainforest, Mayan ruins that tower over the forest canopy, highland waterfalls, a little underground exploration and then a few days of extremely unadventurous luxury on a palm-fringed beach.
Day 1 - Miami
Fly to Miami to pick up your whip and overnight before continuing to Belize (room only)
Days 2-4 - Lamanai
Fly to Belize city and hop aboard a road and boat transfer to Lamanai Lodge in the north where your stay includes all meals and two activities a day including kayaking, river safari, nature walks, jungle medicine trails and visiting the Lamanai Mayan ruins.
Accommodation options: Lamanai LodgeDays 5-7 - Mountain Pine Ridge
Road and boat transfer to the Mountain Pine Ridge area near the Guatemalan border for your stay at Five Sisters Lodge. Swim in the river, hike through mountains and try your hand at horse-riding (Breakfast & evening meal)

Transfer into Guatemala and stay in a Rainforest Casita on the banks of lake Peten itza at La Lancha hotel. (Breakfast).

Full day tour of the hugely impressive Maya ruins of Tikal - real Indian Jones style day of discovery.

Transfer to Pooks Hill - a series of cabanas in the middle of the rainforest built around an old Maya plaza (Half Board)
Accommodation options: Pooks HillDay 11 - Actun Tunichil Muknal
Don that floppy adventurer's hat and head off at dawn across Menonite fields and wading streams to then swim into the cave of Actun Tunichil Muknal. You'll spend 4 hours underground wading through watercourses and then climbing through a series of caverns. You'll step over plenty of Mayan relics and remains before arriving at the "stone sepulchre"
Days 12-14 - Placencia
Transfer along the Humming Bird Highways marvelling at the Maya Mountains and enduring a final bumpy and dusty track before getting rid of the satchel, hat and whip and pulling on the floral bermuda shorts for a very un-Indie ending to 2 weeks of high adventure at the fabulous Coppola beachfront hotel of Turtle Inn in Placencia (B&B)
