BELIZE AND TIKAL FAMILY ADVENTURE
Featuring: Blancaneaux Lodge, La Lancha, Turtle Inn, Return
Well know film director, Francis Ford Coppola, established the first of his three Central American luxury lodges in the Mountain Pine area of Belize, whose rich, green jungle reminded him of the Phillipines, where he'd filmed Apocalypse Now. The second property, Turtle Inn, opens onto the palm-fringed beaches of Placencia, a fishing community in southern Belize. Final property, La Lancha, is just across the border into the jungles of Northern Guatemala, overlooking the picturesque Lake Peten Itza. This is a great base for visiting the important Mayan site of Tikal.
Coppola strongly supports Belize's commitment to eco-tourism. All power at Blancaneaux is provided by his river-powered hydro-electric plant. Conserving local resources, employing and purchasing locally and supporting local conservation projects are important to Coppola Resorts.
All properties are beautifully designed and decorated. They represent some of the best accommodation that Belize and Guatemala has to offer and our trip suggestion is a very comfortable way of visiting this fascinating part of Central America, including jungle, wildlife, remains of old Mayan communities and some time on the coast. A fantastic combination of reef and rainforest!
