A TASTE OF BAJA AND THE COPPER CANYON
Featuring: Mexico City, La Paz, San Carlos, Loreto, El Fuerte, Posada Barrancas, Creel, Chihuahua
A fantastic journey combining a self-drive trip through the remote highways of Baja followed by one of the world's most spectacular train journeys.
The Copper Canyon trip can be enjoyed as a holiday in its own right or added to other Mexico itineraries.
Days 1 to 2 - Mexico City
From London to Mexico City with British Airways arriving in the evening, transfer to your hotel near the Zocalo. Full day tour to the ancient city of Teotihuacan, a definite ‘must see’ for anyone spending time in Mexico City.

Fly from Mexico City with Aeromexico to La Paz in Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. Although the city is growing it is still a peaceful place with beautiful beaches, a palm lined malecón and a handful of colonial buildings. You will have free time to relax and enjoy the area.
Accommodation options: Posada de las Flores La PazDays 5 to 6 - San Carlos
Your car will be delivered to your hotel. You will then drive north to Puerto San Carlos, this is a popular area for spotting gray whales from January to March.

Driving north to Loreto you can enjoy the coastal views of the Loreto Bay National Marine Park. Spend 2-nights in one of the most historic places in the Baja. You can do all sorts of fishing and watersports from here whilst also of interest is the nearby tiny town of San Javier.

After driving back to La Paz and dropping off the car you will catch a ferry to Topolobampo. Transfer to El Fuerte, arriving very late in the evening.

Travel by train to Posada Barrancas. This part of the trip is one of the viewing highlights. There is fantastic hiking in the Copper Canyon or you can just relax and enjoy the fabulous views from the hotel.
Day 12 - Creel
Continue by train to Creel, where you will disembark. The next morning is free to explore this wild west logging town inhabited by Tarahumara Indians.
Day 13 - Chihuahua
Your final train journey will take you to Chihuahua for the last night. Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Mexico City with Aeromexico and then onward for your return flight to the UK.
