Chiriqui Region

The mountainous region around David, in the western province of Chiriqui, provides a dramatic (and cool) contrast to the humid lowlands. Famous for its fruit and coffee growing this rich and fertile area provides wonderful walking, riding, bird watching and world class white water rafting. The small town of Boquete and makes an excellent base to explore the surrounding area. Nearby towers Volcán Barú, Panama's only volcano, though no longer active the surrounding National Park offers some great hikes and for those who reach the top, on a clear day, it’s possible to see views of both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts.
