San Blás and Bocas del Toro

Panama is spoilt for choice with island destinations, the most famous being those in the Archipélago San Blás. Here the indigenous Kuna Indians who have autonomous rule strictly limit the amount of visitors to their idyllic islands. The Bocas del Toro islands lie close to the Costa Rican border on the Caribbean coast, these laid back tropical islands, coral keys and deserted beaches are ideal for the keen naturalist or those wanting to play castaway. Here the Parque Nacional Marion Isla Bastimentos forms a vital Marine Reserve to protect a huge variety of wildlife from the tiny indigenous red frog to the endangered turtles that nest here.
