HURRICANE STAN UPDATE
We would like to give a final report about the situation in Guatemala in the weeks following Hurricane Stan.
All areas of the country are open, accessible, and operating normally. Roads have been re-established and tourists are moving freely throughout the country. We have been sending pax to Lake Atitlan and Chichicastenango for two weeks now, without any problem. The lake is beautiful and crystal clear, and there is no evidence of any disaster at any hotel or tourist destination at the lake (including Panajachel, Santiago Atitlan, etc). The roads do still show a little evidence of the mudslides, but they are open and there are no traffic delays.
Had they not already heard about it in the news, tourists would not likely even know that a storm had hit the area. In these past weeks the weather has been superb, and everyone is enjoying typical early dry-season weather.
