We are very pleased to announce our new partnership with Buffalo Tours. Buffalo Tours was founded as a small tour operator in Vietnam in 1994 by Tran Trong Kien, a young medical doctor with a passion for adventure travel. Over the years, they have pioneered new destinations and experiences and today they are an internationally-renowned, award-winning travel company operating in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

We have chosen to work with Buffalo Tours not only because of their excellent reputation in the industry but also because of their strong environmental ethic. It has always been at the heart of Buffalo Tours’ ethos to protect the environments and communities of the areas they visit and they take this responsibility very seriously. This winning formula has earnt them, among other awards, ‘Best Tour Operator’ in the Condé Nast Traveller World Savers Award 2007 and they have been selected as one of the ‘Best Adventure Travel Companies’ in the World by National Geographic Adventure (NGA) magazine. Buffalo Tours’ CEO, Tran Trong Kien, also recently won the ‘Face of the Future’ award from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), in recognition for his positive contribution to the local community in promoting sustainable practices.

Their genuine commitment to responsible travel is shown through their involvement in a number of initiatives to help tourism create positive impacts such as the donation of 3% of their profits to humanitarian causes. They were the first travel company in Vietnam to offer volunteer travel and now run a variety of community project holidays. These involve you spending a few days volunteering followed by a tour in the region. Projects can range from physical work such as building infrastructure in a disadvantaged community, to educational help teaching in orphanages and schools, to conservation work in National Parks. They also offer medical treks to assist disadvantaged hill tribe communities who do not have access to health care but these are of course only available to medical professionals.

Buffalo Tours also work hard to involve the local communities in the remote areas that they travel to. An example of this is Mai Chau, where they have worked together with the local community and have been very proactive by pioneering trekking, homestays, and volunteer projects in the region, plus regularly donating water buffalos.

We are looking forward to working together with Buffalo Tours to be able to provide you with unique holidays, which we can be sure are benefiting the communities you are visiting and helping to keep tourism in Indochina sustainable.
