WEDDELL SEA

Bordering the Antarctic Peninsula much of the southern part of this sea is permanent ice and it was here that Shackleton’s ship, the Endurance, was trapped and crushed in 1915. The entire area is home to dramatic tabular icebergs and it is also here that you may be lucky enough to encounter the emperor penguin.
