Copacabana Palace hotel
The first hotel to open along the Copacabana beach in 1923, it has remained the best and the most luxurious. It has pride of place on the promenade facing the Atlantic Ocean and the magnificent beach. All rooms are tastfully furnished and have all the facilities you would expect from one of the best hotels in the world. There is a sizable pool and solarium.

Hotel Ipanema Plaza
Located in the elegant area of Ipanema and just 100-metres from the beach, this is one of the best hotels in the area. A stones throw away from some of the most sophisticated restaurants, bars and shops in Rio, Ipanema is the perfect alternative to Copacabana. The rooftop swimming pool is fabulous and the adjoining bar is the ideal place to enjoy a cocktail at the end of a busy day sightseeing.

Pousada Do Canto
The Pousada Do Canto is located five minutes walk from the centre of village Abraao, on Ilha Grande, right on the beach of Praia do Canto. With beautiful views of the sea, it is a characterful yet simple place to stay with a swimming pool and bar. Two of the eleven apartments have a view of the sea and a verandah. All apartments are equipped with private bathroom, air conditioning, ceiling fan and mini-bar.

Casas Brancas
This charming boutique hotel is nestled in the hills overlooking the stunning bay of Buzios, just two hours from Rio. With individually decorated rooms and suites, the pousada has elegant Mediterranean architecture and a refined and laid-back atmosphere. A five-minute walk to the centre of town, the pousada is divided into several levels. All guestrooms face the sea and some have their own balconies.

Pousada Picinguaba
Situated in a calm and peaceful bay in the sleepy fishing village of Picinguaba, the pousada is 30-minutes south of Paraty. Overlooking the sea and a protected 3km long sandy beach, it offers charming, rustic rooms opening out to the natural surroundings. There is a dream honeymoon suite with jacuzzi and breathaking views over the ocean. The road stops at the beach, so access to the hotel is on foot.

Pousada Da Marquesa
This hotel is brimming with character. Situated in a beautiful colonial building opposite the main church, the Igreja da Marquesa, it is ideally situated close to the harbour, but away from the main strip of Paraty. all rooms have high ceilings, dark wood and colonial style furniture. This is a lovely, simple place to stay. The spacious courtyard now houses a refreshing pool with lots of plants and shade.

Armacao Hotel
This ocean front resort style hotel is situated in a beautiful spot on the Porto de Galinhas beach. With 134 spacious apartment rooms, three pools and two restaurants it offers everything a good quality hotel should. They offer diving, kayak trips, jangada boat trips, horse riding and jeep safaris in the surrounding area. The beaches are extremely beautiful in this area with a coral reef just off the coast.

Nannai Beach Resort
Near Recife in Brazil’s tropical north, Nannai is a luxury resort on the one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. Water is the theme here with all of the Balinese style thatched bungalows having its own private pool or whirlpool. Built on stilts, the bungalows are decorated in bright colours with flowing fabrics, tiled floors and simple wooden furniture. The restaurant serves local and international cuisine or, if you prefer, go into nearby Porto Galinhas where there’s a wide range of lively bars and restaurants.

Pousada do Sandi
Located in the old part of town, this historic 26 room hotel is built in an eighteenth century colonial house. There is a nautical theme here, and a more modern feel than in many of the other Paraty pousadas. The decor is colourful and elegant. There is a pool and a sauna whilst the restaurant of the hotel is open to the public and one of the best (and priciest) in Paraty.

Hotel Sitio do Lobo
This hotel is a great place to relax with a touch of luxury. Its charmingly decorated rooms are hidden amongst the trees along the hillside. Situated on the coast of Ilha Grande, the hotel has kayaks for your use, a great way to explore the coastline and other nearby beaches. From here you can also enjoy a hike across the road free island, or simply just relax in the pool over looking the bay and mainland in the distance. Food and drinks are served all day.

Mama Ruisa
This wonderful luxurious mansion house in the heart of Santa Teresa in Rio, overlooks Rio's Guanabara Bay. Santa Teresa is colourful area with lots of authentic Brazilian restaurants and bars. The hotel has been perfectly transformed into one of Rio's best boutique properties, with each room stylishly designed with a different theme including the fabulous Josephine Baker room! You can take a tram to go to down town – it is quite fun and the hotel is only 15-20 minutes from the beach. From the modern designed rooms, there is a view of Rio's well known beaches and the famous Pão de Açucar.

Fasano Hotel
This stylish hotel has 64 rooms and is classically decorated throughout. The facilities are as you would expect from a luxury hotel with a gym, rooftop swimming pool, sauna and a renowned restaurant, which attracts much of the wealthy Sao Paulan population. There is also a fashionable jazz bar. The service is attentive here and the staff will volunteer suggestions as to places to visit in their city. The hotel is located in the prestigious Jardim Paulista district and is surrounded by some of Sao Paulo’s finest shops and boutiques.
