QUITO AND THE NORTH
Quito is a beautiful, refreshing and spring like city, surrounded by snow capped volcanoes where you will find an intriguing mix of new and old. Originally an Inca City, the Spanish founded modern Quito in 1534 and the grandeur of the colonial architecture still standing, is really a sight to behold.
Just an hour north of Quito you can find typical Andean scenery. There are many local Indian towns and villages. Home to one of the most famous market towns in South America, Otavalo, there are also stunning national parks, lakes and beautiful old restored haciendas to stay in. It is also great for condor spotting, walking and horseback riding.
