Rock View Lodge
This is the only interior property in Guyana with a swimming pool providing a real haven from the heat. The grounds are delightful, planted out with flowering frangipanis, flamboyants and cashew trees. The rooms are very comfortable and the food here is really very good indeed, a mixture of Caribbean and Amerindian dishes. You eat al fresco with all the owner's family.

Karanambu Ranch
The settlement has the flavour of an Amerindian village, with its clay brick and palm-thatched cabanas set in a compound betwen the bush and the open range. Accommodation is in very basic cabanas with verandahs. This is not somewhere for people who want luxuries, but it is a very special and unique place to stay. Your hostess is Diane Mcturk, who is famous for her wok in rehabilitating Giant River Otters.

Surama
The Surama community has identified eco-tourism as a sustainable use of their land. It means employment at home, rather than the men leaving to mine or cut timber in other parts of Guyana. All tours to Surama are managed and operated solely by the Macushi, apart from the direct employment from eco-tourism, the community also benefits from the purchase of local produce and a portion of every visit goes to a village fund, which is used for community development projects.
Guests stay in simple accommodation with private facilities (be warned these facilities are very basic i.e cold shower with water that takes a long time to drain away). Rooms are small wooden huts without electricity. There is a large communal area where meals are served and you can relax in a hammock. The food is excellent and prepared from local produce.

Cara Lodge
The Cara Lodge gives you a unique opportunity to stay in the only heritage house hotel in Guyana. It was built in the 1840s and originally consisted of two houses, so it has a long and romantic history associated with it. This is also the home of the Dorothy Taitt Foundation, established to preserve the rich tradition of art and culture that has distinguished the house over the decades, and is still the home of the Dorothy Taitt art collection, on display at the hotel. This is a unique place to stay in Georgetown where there are very few colonial buildings.
