Hotel Ariosto
An unpretentious, independent hotel, located right at the heart of Miraflores, Lima's finest district. Most of the guestrooms are simple but comfortable en-suite doubles. Paracas Hotel
This comfortable hotel is located on the southern coast of Peru, overlooking the Paracas Bay, a short way out of the town itself. It is a modern building in the style of a converted hacienda. Quite a large resort hotel, with water sport facilities, several swimming pools, a good restaurant and three bars. It is an ideal place to stay after visiting the Nasca Lines and to explore the Ballestas Islands.

Hacienda Majoro
Converted from village to convent, then to hacianda and finally to hotel, Majoro has retained all of its charm and character. It is a one-mile bumpy ride from the main road, but once you are there the peace and quiet is only interupted by the occasional small plane going or returning from the Lines. The large grounds, two pools, sports facilities and childrens play area make this a great family hotel.

Hotel El Pardo
This modern hotel is very well located in the centre of the Miraflores area of Lima. It offers a variety of rooms, all of a comfortable size and finely decorated, with private bath, frigobar, TV with cable, soundproof windows, air conditioning, safety box, hairdryer, etc. The 'Millennium' Restaurant-Café is one of the best in Lima, with its cosmopolitan atmosphere, live music, assorted meals and appetizers. The bar offers a great variety of wines and drinks and is open all day. There is also a swimming pool and gym.

Sonesta Posada Del Inca
One of the best hotels in town. Not only because of its lovely guestrooms, friendly staff and tasteful decor, but mainly for being right on Plaza de Armas. This is the best location in Arequipa with commanding views over some of the most beautiful buildings in the city. The place to pause and witness the seemingly chaotic life is the amazing facade long balcony that doubles up as an outdoor restaurant.

Pousada del Inca
Pousada del Inca is located 5 kilometres from the central plaza of Punos, right on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake. This modern hotel offers good facilities and a lovely view. Guestrooms are equipped with cable TV, private bathroom and feature panoramic views of either Lake Titicaca or the nearby mountains. The cafe/bar serves traditional Peruvian food and delicious cocktails.

The Libertador itself is not a beautiful building but it is situated on the shores of Lake Titicaca and the all the rooms have views of the lake. It is one of the best hotels in the area and has heating, which is important as Puno can get very cold at night. It is a couple of miles outside of the town of Puno.

Hotel Monasterio is undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Cusco. Well located in a quiet plaza just two blocks from Plaza de Armas, this converted monastery was built in 1592. It has a beautiful main cloister (with a 300 year old cedar tree in the middle), a very ornate chapel and several courtyards. Casa Andina Catedral
Also known as the Santa Catalina, this hotel occupies one of the best locations in the city. The guest rooms have been very nicely furnished as has the rest of the property. This is a very typical Casa Andina hotel, spotlessly clean with extremely courteous and efficient staff. The reception area sports a segment of Inca wall that adds to the whole atmospheric setting. A very popular choice.

Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel
The Pueblo Hotel is located down in the valley at the foot of the Machu Picchu mountain. The first ecological boutique hotel in Peru is a wonderful place to relax after exploring the Machu Picchu citadel, a 20-minute bus ride away. The village of Aguas Calientes is just 5-minutes walk. Shuttle buses, run up and down a zigzag track between the village and the ruins.

Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge
Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge is the only hotel located within the sanctuary of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu giving guests unique access to the ruins. The guestrooms are all en-suite, some providing fabulous views of the mountain. There is a self-service cafeteria and indoor restaurant. It is the most expensive hotel in Peru, but you should note that is mostly for the location.

Run by a Swiss/French couple and set in attractive gardens with eucalyptus trees and stunning mountain views, the Sol y Luna is a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay in the Sacred Valley. Pakaritampu
This very nice hotel is located just outside the village of Ollantaytambo, walking distance from the railway station. Surrounded by trees, plants and flowers, it has a real homely feel to it. You can easily walk into the old Inca village nearby with its huge Sun temple and old square. The hotel itself is comfortable built out of wood in a conventional style it has clean spacious, rooms with private bathrooms.

This hostal was originally a family house occupied for centuries by a succession of merchant and artisan families. It has been restored and converted in a colonial and rustic style using local materials and traditional techniques. All the rooms have private bathrooms and cable TV and there is a small restaurant and bar.

This is an attractive, rustic style hotel on the main street of Aguas Calientes. The 30 rooms are simple but comfortable and have en-suite bathrooms with 24 hour hot water. Located just a few minutes from Machu Picchu Bus Station, the handicraft market and Peru Rail Train Station, the Inti Inn also offers a typical restaurant, 24 hour room service, laundry, money exchange, living room/TV and security box in reception.

This is a modern hotel, which lies in the centre of the colonial town of Chivay, the starting point for a great tour to the Colca Canyon. The hotel has 52 rooms all with private bathroom facilities and heating. There is also a restaurant, bar and planetarium and telescope.

Libertador Cusco
Hotel Libertador Cusco is located within the historical centre of the city, occupying the fabulous "Casa de los Cuatro Bustos", where Francisco Pizarro, the first Spanish governor of Peru, used to live. It was built on the foundations of the "Aclla Huasi", where the chosen virgins of the Inca lived. Some of its original walls still remain. The house was restored in 1976, to become the present Hotel Libertador Cusco. The hotel is only three blocks from the main square.

Casa Andina Koricancha
Casa Andina Koricancha Hotel consists of two old colonial mansions joined into one with two enclosed courtyards. Despite the fact that the hotel is still centrally located, it has a calmed atmosphere relatively far from Cusco’s noisy main square. The hotel is just three blocks and a half from the Main Square of Cusco and just a block from Koricancha temple, a monumental architectural marvel in whose beautiful interior the Incas would come to pay homage to the God Inti.

Sandoval Lodge
Located on a high ridge overlooking Sandoval Lake, the lodge is run in association with a regional conservation group. It's a 45-minute boat ride down the River Madre de Dios, then a short walk and finally by canoe to reach the lodge. Bi-lingual, naturist guides have great knowledge of the local flora and fauna, customs and history. The en-suite guestrooms are built entirely from cedar driftwood collected by locals.

Cayman Lodge
Roughly three hours travelling up the Tambopata River brings you to Cayman Lodge, sitting amongst pristine primary rainforest. Owned and run by a French expat with the help of very well trained local young people, this place feels more like a friend's house than a hotel. There is no electricity or hot water in any of the basic but comfy en-suite double rooms, only in the main building, adding to the adventure!

One of the most luxurious options in the Puerto Maldonado area. The main building is a fantastic piece of jungle architecture with great views of the surrounding forest. All members of staff are exceptionally well trained, especially the environmental interpreters. The lodge offers a very wide range of tours and has its own canopy walk that allows you to get a close up view of the area's diverse wildlife.

This is a popular hotel with international treking and climbing groups and is located very close to the main plaza. From this hotel you have a wonderful panoramic view towards the Callejon de Huaylas and its 8 snow capped peaks. The hotel also has a good restaurant.

Chillo Lodge
Once a farmstead this family run lodge offers simple yet comfortable accomodation with good food. There is a stone built pool fed from a local stream surrounded by Bromiliads and bouganvillea ideal for relaxing. Power for the lodge is supplied by its own hydroelectric plant, which is also used to make their own home brewed rum!
