NORTHERN PERU
Cajamarca, the jewel of Peru’s highlands is a stately, mountain town. This relatively tourist free zone, surrounded by the Andes, is an unassuming place that does not get caught up in it’s colonial beauty and Andean grace and is definitely worth a visit. On the Northern coast you will find Trujillo, the third largest city in Peru, it is famed for it’s pre-Colombian sites that abound the outskirts of the city and the nearby Chan Chan – a monumental adobe complex of royal palaces. Also close by is the laid-back beach resort of Huanchaco, which is ideal for relaxing on the beach or trying your hand at surfing.
