Day 1 - Caracas
Fly from London (or other regional UK airports) via Paris with Air France. Transfer to your hotel for the evening.
Caracsa is a fast and frenetic city of five million inhabitants and not for the faint hearted. It's a fantastic place for salsa and you will be spolit for choice at the many bars, clubs and restaurants.

Fly to the colonial town of Merida.
While here you will have free time to explore the town. Merida is a beautiful town with a relaxed atmosphere, nestled in the shadow of Pico Bolivar, the highest mountain in Venezuela. One of its highlights is its cable car which is the highest and longest in the world and offers jawdropping views. We also recommend a tour through the Andes to the nearby colonial village of Jaji visiting a coffee plantation on the way.

Transfer by road to visit the giant wetlands, your stay will be on a cattle ranch and tours are included to visit this natural reserve.
The Llanos or flatlands are formed by vast grasslands with ribbons of forest along the creeks and rivers. The Llanos are sparsely populated with most of the inhabitants living from cattle rising. It is an environment of harsh extremes, drought alternating with flood, yet it is Venezuelas greatest area for wildlife. You can find more than 320 bird species (including ibis, herons, cormorants, egrets, jacanas, gallinules and darters) and over 50 kinds of mammals (including the capybara, the worlds largest rodent, armadillos, peccaries, opossums, tapirs and ocelots).

Transfer 250km south to the Caura Lodge. Set on the banks of the River Caura this jungle lodge offers excellent tours on the nearby lagoons and rivers. There are also numerous trails and waterfalls for you to explore.
The Rio Caura is the third largest tributary of the Orinoco River with its source deep in the South of Venezuela. It is full of islands, beaches and huge granite boulders and flows through wildlife-rich rainforest. The area has long been a source of Sarapiqui fruit (a fruit with for medicinal and aromatic qualities) for the local Yekuana-Makiritae Indians which live on the river banks. The rainforest around here still remains fairly pristine so spend your time here relaxing and exploring this beautiful region.

Transfer back to this historic city, which stands on the banks of the Orinoco. Spend the evening at leisure.

Fly into Canaima for an optional scenic flight over the Angel Falls and free time to explore the area.
Canaima National Park is spread over 3 million ha in south-eastern Venezuela along the border between Guyana and Brazil. the landscape is very diverse with dense jungle, hilly savannah, black water rivers, table top mountains, and amazing waterfalls. Declared a UNESCO would natural heritage site in 1994 it contains some of the oldest rock formations in the world and the breathtaking Angel Falls which at a height of 1000m is the high waterfall in the world.

Fly to Los Roques, a beautiful collection of white sand islands. Time to relax and snorkel on the nearby reef.
Los Roques National Park consists of around 50 small coral islands and over 200 cays and is one of the highlights of Venezuela. It is full white sandy beaches and turquoise waters making it the perfect place to end your holiday.
