EAST COAST
The region, which covers two thirds of Peninsular Malaysia, comprises of the states Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor, as well as Tioman Island.
The East Coast of Malaysia boasts some of Malaysia’s most beautiful and least spoilt beaches and islands, excellent scuba diving and snorkelling opportunities due to the phenomenal multi-coloured marine life and crystal-clear waters.
This region is rich in cultural heritage and traditional arts such as kite flying, giant drums and shadow plays, batik, woodcarvings and the craft of weaving pandanus leaves into mats, hats and baskets. Along the idyllic stretch of coastline of Terengganu you can find the giant leatherback turtles that come to lay their eggs usually between May and September.
The East Coast offers plenty of activity and local life, amazing food experiences as well as many activities including cave explorations, jungle trekking, fishing and rock climbing.
It is advisable to avoid the monsoon period around November to January. May/June – August is a good time to visit.
