TAMAN NEGARA
Taman Negara National Park is 130 million years old and can be visited on a side-trip from KL. Here you will be serenaded by birds with names like Crested Fireback Pheasant and Bronzed Drongo to name just two of the 600 species found in this jungle. At night Cicadas and a host of insects will take over. Rich forest and riverine vegetation dominate the lowlands while the altitudes are graced with oaks and palm flora. There are some 100 species of plant life for every acre: spot some of the rarest orchids in the world. Spend a night in a jungle hide (optional): watch for Tapir and bear.
