THAI TRAVELLER

Day 1 - Departure

Depart Heathrow with Thai Airlines direct to Bangkok.

Days 2-3 - Bangkok

On arrival transfer to your hotel for 2 nights. Spend time exploring the city.

Day 4 - Lahu Outpost

Early morning private transport to the airport for flight to Chiang Mai.

In Chiang Mai you will be collected by a truck and driven for an hour and a half to Pha Mieng. Walk down a through orchards and jungle to the waterfall. You will then meet the habitants of the small hill tribe. Here you will have a picnic lunch.

After lunch take a walk up to the mountain top and where you will join a family for Chinese tea in the Red Lahu village. Continue your walk along the mountain ridge to the Lahu village of Kup Kap. Enjoy the spectacular views looking south into the valley and west towards the mountains of Burma.

Day 5 - Lisu Lodge

After breakfast, take a walk downhill to Huay Sadhan waterfall and continue along up stream to the rafting point where you have the chance to white water raft. Continue to the pretty village of Muang Gurt and then onto Aummarin Jungle Elephant camp where lunch is provided. Here you can enjoy elephant riding. A short drive will take you to the Akha Village of Huay Pong, here have tea and a chat with the shaman (the doctor). Continue to Lisu Lodge where you’ll be entertained by local girls from the village, with songs and dance.

Day 6 - Lanna Farm

After breakfast enjoy a tour of the Lisu culture, followed by an oxcart ride through the farmland to the village of Baan Pang Mai Daeng. Return to the lodge for lunch. This afternoon you will have a 2 hour trek from a Karen to a Lahu village. Continue by local truck to the Khum Lanna. Here you can carve vegetable and take Thai cooking lessons.

Days 7-8 - Chiang Mai

After breakfast explore the countryside on a mountain bike tour. This takes you through an abundance of agriculture, crops such as rice, corn, chilli, soybean and peanuts. Chat to the farmers. After this, visit the huge reclining Buddha image at Wat Tham Dork Kum, then return to Khum Lanna for lunch, then transfer back to Chiang Mai.

Spend two nights in Chiang Mai with free time to explore the city.  

Days 9-12 - Koh Yao

After breakfast transfer for your flight to Phuket. On arrival Car and Speedboat transfer to the island of Kho Yao for 4 nights.

Located between Krabi and Phuket on the lesser known Thai island of Koh Yao. Here you will stay in the Paradise Beach Resort & Spa, a beautifully rustic boutique retreat.

The island is also ideal for eco-tourists and soft-adventure activities. Besides trekking and canoeing, beach activities such as snorkelling and diving will be provided.
 

Day 13 - Return

Day at leisure before private transfer back to the airport for flight, via Bangkok to Heathrow. Arrival the next day.
